Chronic hunger is a silent symptom of poverty and social inequities such as child marriage, climate change, lack of women’s empowerment, lack of access to clean water and sanitation facilities, and lack of education and literacy. This World Hunger Day, we champion efforts to overcome these challenges with sustainable, gender-focused strategies that empower people to make significant progress in overcoming hunger.
World Hunger Day is an initiative by The Hunger Project. Started in 2011, it aims to celebrate sustainable solutions to hunger and poverty.
More than 795 million people in the world do not have enough food.
Join us on World Hunger Day to make a difference in the poorest communities.
