Pray: 1 Timothy 2

Read: 1 Timothy 2
Pray earnestly and sincerely for those who have done hateful and unthinkable things.
Pray for our president and his administration.
Pray for those who are lost and hurting.
Pray for those who don’t intimately know Jesus.
Look in the mirror real hard and pray for the person looking back at you who has secret pain and struggles that no one knows about.
PRAY!!

8 ways God speaks to us today

He conversed with Adam in the first garden. He told Noah to build an ark. He spoke to Moses in a burning bush. He promised Abraham a son. Paul heard His voice on the way to Damascus. But does God still speak to us today?

If so, how? When? Where?

1. Through His Word in general.

2. Through His Son, Jesus Christ

3. Through Nature and God’s Creation

4. Through Other Believers

5. Through Music

6. Through Circumstances

7. Through His Spirit

8. Through Prayer

Does God speak to all of us the same way? No, we are all unique. Are these the only ways God speaks today? No. He’s a creative God. He speaks so many ways, including through miracles.

I can't ...

I can't pray LORD if I only live for myself
I cannot pray FATHER if I have not become His child
I can't pray WHAT IS IN HEAVEN if I'm still earthbound
I can't pray HALLOWED BE YOUR NAME if I use it suddenly
I can't pray LET YOUR KINGDOM COME if I don't carry out His word
I can't pray LET YOUR WILL BE DONE if I always want my own sense
I cannot pray for my DAILY BREAD if am living exponentially
I can't pray AS WE FORGIVE OUR DEBTORS when I walk around with a grudge
I can't pray LEAD US NOT INTO TEMPTATION if I play with sin
I can't pray TO YOU BELONG TO THE KINGDOM if I'm not serving Jesus
I cannot pray AND THE POWER if there is still fear in my heart
I can't pray AND THE GLORY as the own I rule my life
I can't pray TILL ETERNITY if I don't expect His coming
I can't say AMEN if I don't believe like a child.

The Lord's Test ...

I woke up this morning
and knew that today,
The sun would not be shining
and the clouds would be grey!

As I stepped outside,
rain fell upon my head.
My car wouldn't start
so I walked to school instead.

I forgot all of my assignments
I failed all of my tests.
I dropped my head in disgust
and asked the Lord for one request.

"Lord, why is it that things
won't go my way?"!
He gently replied, "Dear child it
is because you didn't thank me yesterday.

I woke you up and enabled
you to see the sun again!
I gave you shelter,
protected your family,
and even let you make a new friend.

I blessed you far
greater than I ever had before.
But you were too busy
to thank me once more.

You didn't feel sick
because I maintained your health.
You had money in your pocket
because I maintained your wealth!

You had shoes on your feet
and clothes to wear, too.
You had plenty of food to eat,
and what did you do?

You ignored me and went
about your tasks.
But when you wanted something
you never hesitated to ask.

I was there when you needed me
and that wasn't too long ago.
But when things started going your way,
it was me you did not know.

As if that weren't enough,
I provided your favourite luxuries.
This was something I didn't have
to do, they weren't even necessities.

And when it was time to get on your
knees and show your gratitude.
You decided that after such a
fulfilling day, you weren't in the mood.

So I decided to
give you just a little test!
To show you how it would feel
to stop being blessed."

I began to realise what
the Lord was saying.
And when I got home, I fell
to my knees and started praying.

He said, "My child, you have
learned and you know I do forgive.
But remember to remember this day
as long as you shall live.

I love filling your life with joy,
and your pain I'll alleviate it.
But just a simple thank you
would show how much you appreciate it."

Do not underestimate the power of prayer ...

Diane, a young Christian university student, was home for the summer. She had gone to visit some friends one evening and the time passed quickly as each shared their various experiences of the past year.

She ended up staying longer than she had planned and had to walk home alone. But she wasn’t afraid because it was a small town and she lived only a few blocks away. As she walked along under the tall elm trees, Diane asked “God” to keep her safe from harm and danger. When she reached the alley, which was a short cut to her house, she decided to take it. However, halfway down the alley she noticed a man standing at the end as though he were waiting for her. She became uneasy and began to pray, asking for God’s protection. Instantly a comforting feeling of quietness and security wrapped around her, she felt as though someone was walking with her. When she reached the end of the alley, she walked right past the man and arrived home safety.

The following day, she read in the paper that a young girl had been raped in the same alley, just twenty minutes after she had been there. Feeling overwhelmed by this tragedy and the fact that it could have been her, she began to weep. Thanking the Lord for her safety and to help this young woman, she decided to go to the police station. She felt she could recognize the man, so she told them her story. The police asked her if she would be willing to look at a lineup to see if she could identify him. She agreed and immediately pointed out the man she had seen in the alley the night before.

When the man was told he had been identified, he immediately broke down and confessed. The officer thanked Diane for her bravery and asked if their was anything they could do for her, she asked if they would ask the man one question. Diane was curious as to why he had not attacked her. When the policeman asked him, he answered, “Because she wasn’t alone. She had two tall men walking on either side of her.”

The family that...

The family that talks together,
walks together.
The family that has fun together,
will be one together.
The family that prays together,
stays together.
The family that has ritual together,
will be spiritual together.
